President Barack Obama

My grandfather always used to tell me, "Never tell people how much you earn, or who you vote for", and he was very committed to that. With the American Presidential Election taking place tomorrow, and the British media currently reporting that the candidates are 'neck and neck' ,as an American citizen (I have dual nationality, British-American) I feel it is important to pledge my support publicly, to the current President Barack Obama.

I support Obama because - under President Obama:

There has been 32 straight months of job growth, creating just under 5.5 million private sector jobs

Obamacare has helped 5.6 million senior citizens and people with disabilities to better afford prescription drugs, and children with pre-existing conditions will no longer be denied coverage

President Obama recognises that women's healthcare choices are personal decisions, to be made with her doctor, without interference from employers or politicians

Funding for Pell Grants was doubled and Obama established a college tax credit which helped 9 million students and families save money for tuition in the past year

President Obama has signed 18 tax cuts for small businesses

The American auto industry was rescued from the brink of collapse, saving 1 million jobs

President Obama signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, to help women fight against pay discrimination

Don't Ask Don't Tell was repealed, and he supports marriage equality (although I'd like him to go the whole hog and make it legal...)

And finally... First Lady Michelle Obama is in my opinion the most fabulous first lady ever.

The thought of Mitt Romney winning America's vote genuinely terrifies me.

Step-bro's wedding...

Last month, my step brother got married, and it was beautiful.

I attended with my mum, sister and step-dad (not pictured).



My dress is from Cara, shoes from Primark, bag from River Island. Mama Smith's dress from TK Maxx, Alicia's dress from Boohoo.com, bag from Primark. Excuse the windswept hair!!

He and his wife were married in Redland Parish church, which is just across the way from the tennis club he and my sister and I have been going to since we were kids, so we were very familiar with this gorgeous church.

It was a small wedding of family and a few friends, made ever so slightly confusing by all the half- and step-family members present! Thats modern families for ya I guess! The service was traditional, with the vicar's speech made extremely topical by references to Team GB's Olympic success in relation to the future success of Mark and Karen's marriage, and raising Karen's beautiful little boys Connor, 6 and Oliver, 4. He even gave the new family chocolate gold medals to wear which the bride and groom very gamely did!

From there we all went to Goldbrick House on Park Street for the reception. The room we were invited into for the wedding breakfast was gorgeous - kind of how I envisage my table decorations at my wedding!! Like that's gonna happen!!!

Brisfest 2012

For any Bristolians who might stumble upon this page, or festival fans, or really anyone looking for something AWESOME to do in September, I hereby announce: BRISFEST 2012.

I joined the Brisfest team 10 months ago, and I am so happy about it. Especially because, after 4 years of Brisfest in the Harbourside and Bristol city centre, the team have reached their goal of bringing Brisfest to Ashton Court, and BRINGING BACK ASHTON COURT FESTIVAL! BUT BETTER!

We Shall Remember Them

Armistice Day was this week, a day which is close to my heart, being the child of an Air Force Veteran.

I think it is a really important day in history, and I have strong feelings about commemorating it with a two minute silence for all the fallen heroes, and supporting the troops even in a small way by buying and wearing a poppy.

Last year I went a step further by sending a message to the troops on Armistice Day last year, it is a small gesture but I think it is important that the brave young men, and women, feel supported by people back home in the country they are giving their lives to protect.

My name is Olivia. I am 23. I was born in Swindon on the 30th March 1988, just after my twin sister Alicia.

I went to the University of Wales Institute Cardiff where I got a love for the Welsh accent, a degree in Events Management, and I was a Cardiff University Snakecharmers cheerleader - Go Cobras!

I am single.

I am a total cosmetics junkie - I own about 30 nail varnishes... oops...

I love all kinds of music, from pop to metal and I do NOT believe in being a music snob.

My favourite sports are rugby, american football and of course cheerleading.

I want to go to South America so badly.

My favourite place in Bristol is quite possibly Brandon Hill.

I love Japanese food.

I am 5'8" and hate it.
